Practice Policies
Know Before You Go
- May 27 to July 3. The Summer Competition session is 6 weeks, with (optional) practices 4 days a week, Tues-Fri. Again, a minimum of 2 days a week is suggested. The more the swimmer attends, the more benefits they will see. You are welcome to practice every day. If your swimmer is NEW to the sport, I highly recommend starting them in the Spring session as meets begin the first week of summer session.
- For safety reasons, only the swimmer is allowed to attend practices. Parents and siblings will need to remain outside the fenced pool.
- Beginners will need a kickboard, fins, goggles, team cap, team practice suit, and a team meet suit.
- Int/Adv will need a kickboard, pull buoy, fins, goggles, team cap, team practice suit, and a team meet suit.

Weather Policy
If we experience severe or inclement weather, heavy rain, lightning or high winds, your lesson or practice may be cancelled. We will do our best to cancel at least an hour in advance, it will be posted on our website calendar and emails will be sent out if time permits.
https://www.teamunify.com/team/recdakcs/page/calendar#/team-events/upcoming
We will also email all practice groups and lessons effected if time permits.
Swim team practices do not have makeups for inclement weather cancellations, Swim Lessons do. Makeups for swim lessons are usually the following Saturday morning at the exact same time of your regular lesson unless there is already something planned at the pool, then an alternate Sunday time will most likely be scheduled.
We are out of the water until 30 minutes after a severe weather event. At that point the pool is safe to return to swimming, however, practices or lessons may be cancelled for the entirety depending on the forecast. If lightning or severe weather is detected during our practices or lessons, the pool will be promptly and safely evacuated, and the swimmers will be escorted to cover under the porch area. Parents will be expected to come to the porch to pick up their swimmer so that they may be walked to their car with supervision. If the weather clears and it is safe, the coaches will return to practice or walk the remaining swimmers to the parking lot for pick up, whichever makes more sense.
Please look at our Calendar and your emails before calling, texting or emailing the coach.
Thank You,
Coach Robbie
